Strive for College is a new approach to correcting the inequalities of college access. Strive recruits undergraduate student mentors from local universities to guide low-income high school students through the process of applying to, enrolling in and paying for four-year colleges and universities. We are a national organization with chapters across the country.

Young Professionals Board Members

Our Young Professional Board is for those who care deeply about the issue of educational equity and want to engage with an organization that is working every day to level the playing field. We aim to create a network of successful leaders who will grow with Strive, help build the financial capacity and stakeholder network necessary for the organization to thrive, and champion our mission throughout their lives.

Neil Kee (Bay Area)
Associate, The Riverside Company
Neil is a Midwesterner and graduate of Michigan State University who joined Strive’s Bay Area YPB in November 2011.
In 2008, Neil moved to San Francisco to work as an investment banking analyst for Harris Williams & Co.  Since 2010 Neil has been at The Riverside Company, a middle market private equity shop, where his work has taken him through the entire ownership cycle from investing to his current position on the operations side. Neil's enthusiasm to help all students attain an equal opportunity to complete post-secondary education drove him to join Strive.  In addition, Neil was attracted to Strive's pivotal point in the business life cycle and felt he could help the Bay Area region with its strategic initiatives.

Michael Skelly (New York Region)
Associate, Lexington Partners

Driven to join the NYC Young Professionals Board in 2011 by a strong belief in Strive’s fantastic mission of providing the necessary support and resources to ensure that all eligible students are able to enroll in college, Mike is focused on helping Strive build its footprint in the New York area.  Currently, Mike is an associate at Lexington Partners, a private equity firm which focuses on purchasing limited partnership interests in private equity funds on the secondary market. Prior to joining Lexington in 2010, he worked at Brevan Howard and prior to that he was an investment banking analyst at Goldman Sachs. Mike graduated from the University of Wisconsin (Madison) with a BBA in finance and political science.
