WHAT IS STRIVE?

Strive for College is a new approach to correcting the inequalities of college access. Strive recruits undergraduate student mentors from local universities to guide low-income high school students through the process of applying to, enrolling in and paying for four-year colleges and universities. We are a national organization with chapters across the country.

Climb for College

Bringing communities together, and getting exercise along the way.

Climb for College is a fundraiser and fair organized and held by local Strive for College chapters and Community Coalitions.

THE CLIMB

College mentors, high school students, other college groups, sports teams and community members sign up to run in the Climb for College - a challenge where participants run the bleachers in a local sports arena. Participants get businesses, family and friends to pledge a certain amount of money for every bleacher they climb. These pledges are the foundation of Climb for College’s proceeds.

THE FAIR

At the bottom of the arena, Strive for College hosts a community fair with local colleges, organizations, arts and crafts, food, games and live music, and invites the local community at large to attend the event. All proceeds from the fair benefit Strive for College, and attendees are also present to watch runners participate in the Climb.
