WHAT IS STRIVE?
Strive for College is a new approach to correcting the inequalities of college access. Strive recruits undergraduate student mentors from local universities to guide low-income high school students through the process of applying to, enrolling in and paying for four-year colleges and universities. We are a national organization with chapters across the country.

Our Results

"There is a different spirit in this school about setting goals and wanting to go to college. There is no question in my mind that [Strive for College] has made a difference. It has been almost miraculous."
-Charles Brown, Superintendent, Wellston School District, Wellston, MO

In 2006, just 1 of the 30 seniors graduating from Eskridge High School in Wellston, Missouri attended college. That year Strive for College partnered with Eskridge High School and began working with the juniors, and after completing the program 24 of 27 graduating seniors were accepted to four-year colleges and universities, and more than half received financial aid and scholarships.

Last year, 100% of students from Strive for College’s three chapters applied to four-year colleges, and more than doubled the four-year college going rate compared to the Strive students' high school peers.

Strive for College is working to improve and replicate the success of our pilot models at colleges and universities across the country.
